Tory's Story

Tory’s Story 2010

My name is Jane and I've owned Tory, 32.5 yr. old quarter horse gelding, since he was 9 mos. old. He is in great condition for his age, according to the vets at  B.W.Furlong & Assoc., but has 3 main issues--rt. dorsal colitis ( 1 quadrant of his intestines), blind in rt. eye and navicular in both fronts (managed with special shoeing for 18 yrs.).  In mid Sept., 2010 during shoeing, Tory fell down in his stall and it took 5+ hrs. with 5 friends and a vet to get him up. He did not have the stamina/energy or the correct positioning to be able to do it. Subsequent to this traumatic event, Tory lost at least 75 lbs. I contacted Theresa Mueller to discuss this situation because I had been introduced to her and the holistic approach to equine health management at the Sussex County Farm and Horse Show, NJ  in August. Between Theresa and Dr. Scheaffer, we got Tory started on Fastrack gel and subsequently on more of a maintenance routine of Fastrack Microbial Pack and Fastrack Fortifier. Right before my eyes, Tory started putting some of the weight back on. He did not have any diarrhea which has been a standard reaction to any trauma that previously occurred. His colitis was well managed.

On Dec. 17, 2010 I stopped home to feed Tory. He whinnied as I approached, but I went to his stall and he never came in. He was lying flat out under the overhang outside where he apparently ran into an upright (on his blind side) and fell down. It was 14 degrees and he was really stunned. With relatives, friends and a vet we tugged, pulled, sedated and prayed. Tory braved the cold, did not go into shock, did not need fluids this time, stayed pretty calm (better than me) and with amazing resolve and energy, he got up on the first try when we got him in the correct position to try. He subsequently only dropped a few pounds and was his "ole' self" in a day or so. I truly attribute his much better fitness and superior ability to deal with the 2nd fall to his overall system improvement as a result of the Fastrack family of products. His digestive health is much better, along with an impressive increase in his physical strength. What a difference in just 2 months!! Thank you for saving my "big boy" from a certain downhill slide. This was my true Christmas miracle.

Many thanks to everyone,

Jane B. Chester NJ

The Challenge

The performance and health of your livestock is dependent upon the proper balance of digestive tract bacteria. Newborn animals and newly-hatched birds enter the world with a sterile digestive tract, which is quickly populated with health-promoting bacteria and the much quicker growing, pathogenic bacteria and viruses. Unfortunately, feed and environmental changes, birthing/laying, weaning, medication and transporting, among other common management practices alter the intestinal environment in ways that favor the disease-causing organisms of animals and birds of any age.

The Answer: Fastrack® Direct-fed Microbials — The Natural Way

The unique combination of natural, live lactic acid-producing bacteria, FOS, yeast, enzymes, vitamins and specialized proteins in the Fastrack® products helps to ensure a healthy digestive tract; enhancing the immune system and defending against pathogenic agents in the digestive tract. Specifically the health-promoting Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium in the animals ‘and birds’ small and large intestines utilize FOS.
