Conklin Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is for use in 2010 and newer diesel engines utilizing a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system, and will typically be used at a rate of 2% to 3% of your diesel fuel consumption to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions. Conklin Diesel Exhaust Fluid is a pre-mixed and ready-to-use product compatible with all on-and off-road SCR systems.
As your DEF usage will vary based on several factors, you can initially estimate that you will consume DEF at a rate of 2%-3% of your diesel fuel consumption. Therefore, you will require 2-3 gallons of DEF for every 100 gallons of diesel you consume. For example, if your diesel pickup gets 18 mpg and is only driven 24,000 miles, you may require 40 gallons of DEF per year at the 3% usage rate.
